Walking for Everyone

Walking is a great way to keep fit, to see the sights and meet other active people. Many of the North Coast Holiday Parks have the advantage of having walking tracks starting directly from the park. Whether it is strolling along kilometres of beautiful beaches or through natural bushland, the following parks offer various terrains and experiences for you.

Terrace Reserve Holiday Park

Terrace Reserve Holiday Park in located in the heart of Brunswick Heads, once you arrive at the park there’s no need to get back in the car. Paths and walking tracks are throughout Brunswick Heads with maps available from the office. For the more energetic walker you can take a beach walk to Byron Bay (10km).

Lake Ainsworth Holiday Park

Stroll along the white silky sands of Seven Mile Beach north all the way to Broken Head one day then go south along the boardwalk up the Point and as far as Flat Rock the next. Alternatively there is the Heritage Points-of-interest Walk through the village itself.

Scotts Head Holiday Park

What a fabulous walk along a pristine stretch of coastline. The walk along the entire beach is 11 km to Nambucca so plenty of room to move and experience the serenity.

Clarkes Beach Holiday Park

The Great Lighthouse walk is not to be missed plus it is a 10 minute scenic walk into town from the park. There are walking paths throughout Byron Bay to allow visitors to explore and take in the beautiful scenery.

Moonee Beach Holiday Park

Ideal for nature walks to the headland, superb coastal views where you can watch whales (June to November) or dolphins (December to March).

North Beach Holiday Park

Mylestom is located right next to the beach and river for a beautiful picturesque walk, ride or swim. With direct access to 10 kilometres of golden sandy beach and close proximity to the serene Bellinger River, this is the ideal spot for a family to experience plenty of activities.

Urunga Heads Holiday Park

Taking a walk along the Urunga footbridge is an experience not to be missed. Extending across the calm waters of the lagoon, with gentle breezes blowing across the water, the footbridge allows tourists a rare glimpse of the abundant wildlife living along the foreshore. Sand crabs burrowing into the sand, pelicans and seagulls splashing in the water, soldier crabs scurrying through the mangrove roots and the sound of waves crashing onto the break wall provide a perfect back drop for a stroll along the footbridge at any time of day. All of this and more is within walking distance of all camp sites and cabins.

Hungry Head Cabins

There are some great bushwalks directly from the Hungry Head Cabins – from short exploratory walks to the more adventurous walks including the 7km walk to Urunga Heads. Hungry Head to Wenonah Head loop is a 13km walk and the Urunga foreshore return walk is 3km.

Silver Sands Holiday Park

There are kilometres of beach to walk along. The Gumma Garra walking track takes you along various aboriginal landmarks. For nature lovers, the vast area of land that is part of the National Parks surrounding Evans Head is great for walking. Bundjalung National Park, Goanna Headland and Broadwater National Park.

Forster Beach Holiday Park

The Bicentennial coastal walk commences on the doorstep, passing over Pilot Hill joining Forster main beach and continuing past the ocean baths on Forster Beach. It leads eastwards over Second Head along the foreshore, between Bennetts Head Road and the ocean, past The Tanks, through Bennetts Head Reserve and south past One Mile Beach to Burgess Beach.

For something a bit more strenuous, head up to Cape Hawke Lookout. This lookout gives visitors (those who are fit enough to climb it!) the best view of Forster/Tuncurry. It's not the easiest to get to the top of but if you take your time you will be rewarded on a clear day with a truly magnificent view stretching far across the twin towns. Views extend north, south, east and west as far as the eye can see!

Hawks Nest Beach Holiday Park

Explore some of the most breathtaking scenery and picturesque beauty Hawks Nest has to offer. Roads and tracks in the area are generally flat. The strenuous 2 to 3 kilometre walk along the spit, which separates Hawks Nest from Yacaaba Head is well worth the trip, make sure you look out for the dolphins. Why not head to the Myall Lake National park, where you can find a range of walks to suit all levels, from a 30 minute rainforest walk to a 21 km track to bush walk.

Jimmy's Beach Holiday Park

Explore some of the most breathtaking scenery and picturesque beauty Hawks Nest has to offer. Roads and tracks in the area are generally flat.
